Practical AI Workshops

AI is changing the tasks people perform and the decisions they make at work. Adina Gray leads hands-on workshops for professional groups and organizations, helping participants build confidence using AI in their own work.

Designed for non-technical audiences, each session is shaped around the roles and workflows of the group, with activities adapted to their level of AI experience. Guided activities and live demonstrations show where AI can be useful while also addressing responsible use and the importance of human judgment.

Core AI Skills for Work

Many people have tried AI for quick questions or simple drafts, but using it effectively requires more than knowing how to write a basic prompt. This hands-on workshop helps participants apply AI to real work such as planning, research, communication, document analysis, and problem-solving. They learn a structured approach to providing useful context, working with source material, improving weak responses through thoughtful follow-up, and checking results before relying on them.

The workshop accommodates mixed levels of experience and requires no prior expertise. It also addresses privacy, organizational guidelines, and situations where human review is essential.

Ideal audiences: Workplace teams and professional groups across businesses, associations, public-sector and educational organizations, and nonprofit or community organizations.

AI Workflows and Automation

This workshop helps participants move from isolated prompts to structured, repeatable ways of working with AI. Through practical examples, they learn what AI agents are, how using an agent differs from using a chatbot for a single task, and how agents, automations, and scheduled tasks can support multi-step work. Participants map a recurring activity from their own work, decide where AI can assist, and build in checkpoints for accuracy, privacy, and human review.

Activities are adapted to the organization’s preferred or approved tools and the features available within them. Participants leave with a mapped workflow and a practical plan for testing and refining it.

Ideal audiences: Professionals, entrepreneurs, and workplace teams already using generative AI for individual tasks and ready to explore workflows and automation.

Teaching and Assessment in the Age of AI

When students can use AI for research, writing, problem-solving, and idea development, educators face a difficult question: how can students learn to use AI effectively without allowing it to replace the thinking and skill development education is meant to build?

This interactive workshop introduces a practical framework for deciding where AI belongs in learning and assessment. Participants explore three roles for AI: protected practice, where students build and demonstrate skills independently; AI-supported learning, where AI assists selected parts of the learning process; and AI-integrated competence, where using AI critically and responsibly becomes part of what students are expected to learn and demonstrate.

Through examples and practical activities, participants apply the framework to their own assignments, assessments, and learning activities. They also explore ways to make student thinking and learning more visible through greater emphasis on process, reflection, explanation, and judgment.

Ideal audiences: K–12 educators, school districts, post-secondary faculty, academic leaders, curriculum and instructional-design teams, and professional-development groups.
